Selection Criteria for Quality Crystal Shutters
Check Certifications
The shutter must have an inspection report from an authorized testing agency and a Safety & Technical Protection Product Permit issued by the provincial Public Security Department's technical security division.
Understand Security Ratings
Crystal shutters are classified into A, B, and C security levels, with C offering the highest theft prevention and A the most basic, commonly found in residential use. Grade A requirements include:
- All-steel, flat, fully enclosed construction
- Resistance against manual tools and portable power tools for ≥15 minutes at their weakest point
- Preventing the cutting of a 615 cm² opening through the door
Examine the Locking System
Qualified crystal shutters typically use a three-directional or five-point locking mechanism. This not only locks the bolt but also engages the upper and lower tracks, securely fixing the door. Most models include a rubber seal on the frame to prevent harsh metal-on-metal contact when closing.
Evaluate Materials
Stainless steel is currently the most popular material due to its aesthetics, durability, and corrosion resistance. Key points to note:
- Branded stainless steel models, particularly grades 302 and 304, are highly recommended
- The steel plate thickness should be no less than 2cm, with front/rear panel thickness between 0.8cm~1cm
- Include internal skeletons and reinforcements within the door leaf
Assess Craftsmanship
Inspect for defects such as welds that are missed, uneven, or incomplete. Check that the joint between the door leaf and frame is tight and even, ensuring smooth, flexible operation. The paint finish should be even, firm, and smooth.
Consider the Opener and Remote
Pay attention to the brand and configuration of the roller motor and remote control system.
