Guangzhou Fire Shutter Inspection Checklist After Installation

After installing a fire shutter in Guangzhou, you need to check these points before signing off.

1. Appearance Check

The slat surface should be smooth and level, without obvious scratches, dents, or deformities. Welding points should be clean and uniform. The coating should be even, no peeling, no bubbling. The housing or shaft box should be installed straight and level. Color should match what's specified.

2. Dimensional Check

Measure the opening width and height against the approved shop drawing. Deviation shouldn't exceed plus or minus 3mm for width and height under 3 meters. For larger openings, the allowed deviation is wider but still within spec. Guide rail spacing should be checked with a gauge.

3. Operation Check

Run the door through several full cycles. Opening and closing should be smooth. No sticking, no jumping off the track. The motor should run without excessive noise or vibration. The manual chain operation should work. The limit switches should stop the door accurately at both ends.

4. Fire Function Check

Simulate a fire alarm signal. The door should descend automatically. If this is on an evacuation path, confirm the two-step descent: first stop at around 1.8 meters, pause, then complete descent. The fusible link release should work when tested. The control box should send proper feedback signals.

5. Sealing Check

When the door is fully closed, check the gap between slats. Check the gap between the curtain edge and the guide rails. Check if the bottom beam seats properly on the floor. For smoke control rated doors, these gaps matter.

6. Electrical Check

All wiring should be in conduit. Connections should be tight. Ground wire must be connected. The control box should be mounted securely. Buttons should respond properly. Power indicator should work.

7. Documentation Check

You should get the product certificate, fire rating test report, installation and acceptance record, operation manual, and warranty card. Keep these. You'll need them for fire safety inspections later.

A proper fire shutter is no good if the installation is sloppy. Take the time to check everything. If issues are found, have the installer fix them before accepting.
