Fujian Fire Shutter New Technical Specification Requirements

Fujian province has updated its fire shutter technical requirements. Here's a summary for contractors and building owners.

Material Requirements

The fire shutter curtain, whether steel or inorganic fabric, must have a valid fire rating test report. For steel composite shutters, the steel face thickness must not be less than 1.2mm for the front face and 1.0mm for the back face. The fire insulation material between the faces must be non-combustible with documented thermal performance.

Guide Rail Specifications

Guide rails must be embedded or surface-mounted, anchored at intervals not exceeding 500mm. The rail depth must accommodate curtain expansion during fire. For special-grade shutters, the minimum embedment depth of anchors in concrete is 80mm. Chemical anchors must be used for brick or block walls.

Control System Requirements

The control box must have a main power indicator, a fire signal indicator, and a status indicator. All buttons must be clearly labeled in Chinese. The emergency stop function must override all other commands. The manual quick-release mechanism must be operable without tools.

Fire Alarm Interface

The shutter must respond to signals from two independent detection zones. The first signal (usually from a smoke detector in one zone) triggers the shutter to descend to 1.8 meters. The second signal (from a heat detector in the adjacent zone) triggers full descent. The descent speed must be between 3 and 7 meters per minute under power and 4 to 9 meters per minute under gravity descent.

Testing and Commissioning

Before acceptance, the shutter must pass an operational test, a fire alarm simulation test, and a manual operation test. The test results must be documented and signed by the installer, the general contractor, and the owner's representative.

Maintenance

Monthly functional testing is required after acceptance. Annual comprehensive inspection by a qualified technician. Records must be kept for at least three years. Any defects found during testing must be repaired within a specified time frame, usually 7 days for critical defects.

The full specification document should be obtained from the Fujian provincial fire department or construction bureau. This summary is for reference only and may not include all requirements.
