Four Things to Check When Choosing a Wholesale Rolling Door Supplier

Picking the wrong supplier for your rolling doors will cost you. I've seen it happen too many times. Here are four things to look at before you place an order.

1. Are They Actually a Manufacturer?

Lots of companies say they're a factory. Some are, some are just resellers. A reseller adds markup without adding value. Ask to visit the factory. Look at the production line. Is there actual manufacturing happening? Cutting, forming, welding, assembly? Or is it just an office with a warehouse? A real manufacturer controls quality, can customize, and usually has better prices.

2. What Does Their After-Sales Look Like?

Rolling doors are mechanical equipment. They break. Motors fail. Springs snap. Remotes stop working. When that happens, can you get someone on the phone? How fast do they show up? Ask specific questions. What's the warranty period? What does it cover? Is labor included or parts only? Do you have a service team in my area? A supplier who can't answer these clearly is probably not going to be there when you need them.

3. Can They Show You Past Projects?

Every supplier has a portfolio, or should. Ask for photos and contact information for past clients, especially ones with projects similar to yours. If they've done a fire shutter installation for a shopping mall and you're a shopping mall, that reference is gold. Call the reference. Ask about communication during the project, installation quality, and what happened when there was a problem.

4. What Certifications Do They Have?

For fire shutters, the fire rating test report from a recognized testing lab is mandatory. Ask where the test was done and see the report. For general rolling doors, ISO quality management certification is a good sign but not strictly necessary. Also check business licenses and any industry association memberships. These don't guarantee quality, but they show the company is legitimate and invested in its reputation.

Price matters, but it's not the first thing to look at. The first thing is whether the supplier can deliver what you need and support it afterward. A cheap door from a supplier who disappears is the most expensive door you'll ever buy.
