RHidoor’s fire shutters split by curtain build into ordinary steel and composite steel. The former is single steel plate, the latter double plate with insulation between. When used to replace a firewall with a rating over 3.0h, you can drop the water curtain. Fire shutters: only garage lanes may use ordinary steel; all else needs premium fire shutters.

How to pick a steel fire shutter:
1. Check the looks:
A qualified steel fire shutter welds firmly with even spots; the surface spray is flat and smooth; at the set spot it has the product mark, quality pass mark, and certification mark. A bad one welds poorly, spots uneven, spray rough, and lacks the marks.
A qualified shutter looks complete, no damage, clean surface, no plane marks, burrs, or hammer marks; corners and seams tight and flat; marks at the set spot. A bad one is incomplete, damaged, not clean, with plane marks, burrs, hammer marks; seams not tight; no marks.
2. Check the size: a qualified product’s outer size should be <= the sample’s, leaf thickness >= the sample’s, frame side width >= the sample’s, fire glass size <= the sample’s, fire glass thickness >= the sample’s. A bad one exceeds the sample size, leaf thinner, glass smaller.
3. Check the seal: a qualified steel or inorganic fire shutter has a fire seal strip, straight, not arched, with a report from a national lab. A bad one has no strip, or an arched one, and no report.

How many materials:
Steel fire shutter: steel curtain plate, rail, seat plate, lintel, box, with motor and control box, meeting integrity.
Inorganic fiber composite fire shutter: inorganic fiber curtain, steel splint, rail, seat plate, lintel, box, with motor and control box, meeting integrity.
Premium fire shutter: steel or inorganic fiber curtain, steel rail, seat plate, splint, lintel, box, with motor and control box, meeting integrity, insulation, and smoke control. Rolls left or right.

Fire rating classes:
1. Steel fire shutter (F1, 1.50h)
2. Inorganic fiber composite (F2, 2.0h)
3. Premium fire shutter (F3, 3.00h)

Notes on steel fire shutter use:
Steel fire shutters are fine steel goods with good metal traits, hard to damage, and strong fire traits, a key safety guard. When rolled up they take no space. But every material has weak points. Steel corrodes with acid or alkali, so never use it in such an environment; avoid acid/alkali effects. Also avoid metal damage; thin steel can dent or be hit beyond recovery. Makers usually warn of this.
