A fire shutter curtain usually has these parts: formed splint, fire decorative cloth, fire cloth, fire blanket, and radiation shield cloth. The filling gives strong fire resistance not just by the outer material but by the filling too. Among common fillings, asbestos is widely used for its high tensile strength, flexibility, chemical and heat resistance, electric insulation, and spinnability as a mineral product.
A premium fire shutter uses steel or inorganic fiber for the curtain, steel for rails, seat plate, splint, lintel, box, with a motor and control box, meeting integrity, insulation, and smoke control. Fire shutters use a two-step descent, sending alarm and action signals to the fire control room; premium shutters have emergency control. When the smoke detector before a fast fire shutter signals, the auto-alarm panel at the fire control desk sounds and lights, logs the time, shows the location, the shutter gets the signal, drops to the set height, and the desk shows it in place.
When a fire shutter replaces a firewall, protect both sides with a water curtain, or use a composite shutter with a rating of at least 3.0h. Shutters in escape paths and anterooms should hold briefly on descent and allow manual control from both sides for safe evacuation; they should support auto, manual, and mechanical control.
